2018 Regional Assembly- Flint May 5

Rev. Teresa “Terri” Hord Owens, General Minister and President (GMP) of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will bring the keynote message at the Michigan Disciples Regional Assembly on May 5 at Triumphant Temple of Praise Christian Church, 3497 W. Pasedena, Flint.

“Transforming Us to Transform the Church” (Romans 12:1-3) is the theme of this years Regional Assembly.

Lunch is included in the $40.00 registration fee. Registration also is available on the day of the Assembly beginning at 9:00 am.

Proposal For Crystal Management Agreement

The morning session will begin with an opening devotional and a business session.

The Regional Assembly will include action on several key business items, including a proposal from the Crystal Commission to engage with United Camps, Conferences and Retreats, Inc. to manage Crystal Conference Center beginning in 2019.  See an attached file "Questions & Answers to UCCR Management of Crystal” for more information.

Guest Presentations Scheduled

Guest presentations regarding the work of our Disciples Global Ministries and Christian Church Foundation will follow lunch. The closing worship and keynote message by Hord-Owens will begin at 2:00 pm.

Rev. Hord Owens was elected as the General Minister and President on July 9, 2017. A Disciples member since young adulthood, Hord Owens was dean of students at the University of Chicago Divinity School and pastor of First Christian Church of Downers Grove, IL prior to her election.

She is married to Walter Owens, Jr., with whom she celebrated 30 years of marriage prior to her election. They are the proud parents of an adult son, W. Mitchell Owens, III.
