Winter Study Series -- 2017

Continuing with our current emphasis on the relationship of Mission and the Lord's Table, the January-February study series will focus on the book Patterns of Faith in a Table-Centered Church. The book was written by Dr. Keith Watkins, Emeritus Professor of Worship at Christian Theological Seminary.  Keith has been at the forefront of worship renewal among the Disciples since he began his teaching career at CTS in 1961.

There are two study groups currently available, with opportunity to start more.

  • Wednesday Afternoon Group -- led by Pastor Bob, this group meets from 1:30 to 3:00 in the library. The first session will be held on January 11th.
  • Sunday Afternoon Group -- led by Susan Menko, this group meets from noon to 1:30 in the library.  The first session will be held January 8th.
  • The Elders will also be reading the book, with discussion led by Pastor Rick.

The message of the book is that from the earliest times the Table has stood at the center of Christian life. The question for us is how we center our faith life around it.  The question is, how do we prepare to come to the Table? Keith writes that "no matter how simple or elaborate a meal may be, the food tastes better and the companionship is richer when we prepare ourselves to participate." Join us in this study, won't you?
